FOR CUSTOM INSTALLERS - changes to serial commands

Serial control programs are for the most part transferable between AVM 20, AVM 30, and Statement D1. To download command list, go to 'Custom Install' section of the model's page on www.anthemAV.com or www.statement.anthemAV.com.

Potentially useful tip: If you're running out of inputs, you can expand the number of them on the fly by doing something like the following: Connect an analog-audio-only source, such as a phono preamp, into an input that's not going to use analog audio connection, such as DVD. Use serial command string to rename DVD input to 'Phono', reassign it to analog, and turn off video inputs whenever Phono is selected on the touchpad (and of course rename to DVD etc when DVD is selected).

STATEMENT D1 / AVM 30 v1.12 / AVM 20 v2.21:

1. Added TH? to query tuner mode. Returns THx where x=0(stereo), 1(hi-blend), 2(mono).

2. Added TASy? to query AM preset where y is AM preset (1,2,3,4,5,6). Returns TASy=zzzz where z is station frquency

3. Added TFSxy? to query FM preset where x=bank (1,2,3) and y=FM preset. Returns TFSxy=zzz.z where z is station frequency.

(If unit is off when above are sent, it's also indicated as 'Unit Off'.)

STATEMENT D1 / AVM 30 v1.11 / AVM 20 v2.20:

1. mode commands expanded due to addition of Dolby Pro Logic IIx and THX Games Mode - see updated command set

2. all modes always available (for pertinent number of channels input), for example if THX is activated, and a mode selection command is sent for a mode that is not compatible with THX, then THX will be forced off

3. added SCCnx and SCSnx commands for assigning composite and S-Video connections

4. added P1ENyx for THX Re-EQ on/off when THX is off

5. for serial commands that require a source to be specified ('0' to '9') a 'c' can also be used to specify the currently selected source

6. (20 July version onwards) added P1DF? to query input type currently playing - returns P1DFyx where y is source and x is:

0 = no signal
1 = mono (center channel only)
2 = 2 ch not flagged
3 = 2 ch surround-flagged
4 = DD more than 2 ch not flagged
5 = DD Surround EX-flagged
6 = DTS more than 2 ch not flagged
7 = DTS-ES Matrix-flagged
8 = DTS-ES Discrete-flagged
9 = 6 ch analog in

This can be used to determine which post processing mode selections to show on a touchscreen for a given bitstream - see appendix A in manual for list. When input is mono (i.e. DD-1.0), available selections are Mono, All Channel Mono, and Mono-Academy only. For DTS-ES Discrete, only option is THX Cinema.

For reference, y (source) is:

0 = CD
1 = 2 ch analog balanced in
2 = 6 ch analog in
3 = Tape
4 = FM/AM
5 = DVD
6 = TV
7 = Sat
8 = VCR
9 = Aux

AVM 20 v2.14:

1. added serial command PnzxAAAAAAAAAAA for displaying custom messages/notifications on the front panel and Main / Zone 2 on-screen displays for duration of timeout period, where n=zone (1,2), x=line (1,2), AAAA=text up to 20 characters for each of the two lines.

AVM 20 v2.13:

1. added serial commands for PLII Music center width, panorama, dimension and Neo:6 center gain (including query commands) - see 'P1EM...' in command list

2. added command 'P1C?' to query dynamics setting

3. added echo of tone control status 'PnTEx' and 'PnTEx'

4. when main zone is off and either zone2 or zone3 is powered up and serial echo is on, main zone information is echoed - fixed

5. optimized serial output information when serial echo is on

6. added serial command for setting muting preferences 'SUZnx'

7. serial commands SDM2 and SDM3 (sampling frq for 2-ch @ 88.2 and 96 kHz) report Parameter Out-of-range - fixed

8. serial command 'SUPnx' not working as documented - range for command is now 0-3

AVM 20 from v2.10 to v2.12:

1. RS232 docs show that for P1Eyx, X=1 AL-Cin, 2 AL-Mus, etc which is incorrect (Cinema/Music #s are reversed for all the modes) - updated serial documentation

2. 'SZaAx' did not work and returned 'invalid command' - fixed

3. added serial command 'SLmsx.xx' for setting music configuration subwoofer calibration level

4. added 'P1A?' serial command for determining the type of AC3 (Dolby D) signal being decoded

5. when setting source via 'PzS2' serial command to 6 channel input for Zone2/3 the behaviour is strange - now returns 'parameter out of range'

6. 'P1Q?' serial command result has a prefix (e.g. P1QXXXXXXXXX) so that it can be parsed from other result strings and for consistency with other P1XX queries

7. P1QXXXXXXXXX is automatically generated every time there is a change if serial ECHO is ON

8. if serial echo is ON, P1Ayx status issued when AC3 state changes

9. if serial echo is ON, P1Dyx and P1Ayx echos were not issued when new source is selected - fixed

10. if serial echo is ON, P1Eyx, P1EFyx, P1EEyx.... did not echo when the corresponding setting changed - fixed

11. since trims are now specific to 2 or multichannel channel modes (i.e. AnthemLogic-Music/Cinema, PLII...and DD-5.1, DD-5.1EX, DTS-5.1, DTS-6.1 (discrete, ES and Neo:6 matrix), and THX ON) the serial commands for trims require revision - all trim setting serial commands now apply to the current processing mode (ie subwoofer and LFE commands no longer specify DSP mode and have been changed to P1VSsxx.x and P1VLsxx.x)

12. added serial query commands P1VC?, P1VR?, P1VB?, P1VS?, P1VL? for current trim volumes

13. added serial query commands P1LM?, P1LF?, P1LR?, P1LB? for current balance settings

14. added serial query commands P1BM?, P1BC?, P1BF?, P1BR?, P1BB?, P2B?, P3B? for current bass settings

15. added serial query commands P1TM?, P1TC?, P1TF?, P1TR?, P1TB?, P2T?, P3T? for current treble settings

16. serial echo for balance reset to neutral is not issued when THX is turned on - fixed

17. increased internal buffer size so echo won't overflow

18. fixed SfP command

19. serial echo out will not generate a second P1Ayx to indicate 2 channel or multichannel AC3 decoder under certain circumstances where the decoder first temporarily changes to either multichannel or 2 channel mode before quickly changing to the other mode (eg when entering and exiting DVD menus) - fixed

20. added serial commands 'P1VFsxx.xx', 'P1VF?', 'P1TE?', 'P2TE?' and 'P3TE?'
